Welcome to our Senior Preschool Program!
The SR Preschool Program is designed to encourage three and four year olds to develop their social and emotional skills, their gross and fine motor abilities and their cognitive concepts, in preparation for Kindergarten and life in general.
We carefully plan stimulating, developmentally appropriate activities based on the children’s interest and encompass all the domains of development. We elaborate on fine motor skills, such as proper holding of crayons, tracing, and use of scissors to ensure better preparation for their emerging writing skills.
By providing children with a variety of age appropriate books and our monthly story time with the Carp librarian and our volunteer Jim, we encourage children to develop a love for early literacy.
Along with our new Music Program every second month with Sing, Song, Party time’s Derek Mc Kinley! This incorporates the joys of music and movement and really extends off of the children’s creativity!
In addition to the planned indoor activities, children enjoy a variety of outdoor play opportunities in our wonderful fenced in playground space. We also go on nature walks and enjoy watching the beavers swim in the pond.
Important Information About Our Program:
We recommend that you take a look at our information board and our monthly how does learning happens board located outside our classroom. You will find our program plan, our daily schedule and the lunch and sleep chart. We ask that you ensure your child has the following labeled items:
- Weather appropriate outdoor clothing
- A complete change of clothing in a labeled zip lock bag
- Two pairs of footwear (one for outdoor and one for indoor)
- A blanket for sleep
- Labeled water bottle to remain at daycare
Show and Tell Day is set out in our monthly newsletters. This is the only day that children are permitted to bring in toys/ items from home. Food is provided by WCKK, and since we are a peanut free facility, please do not bring in any food from home. We strongly encourage all parents to keep the lines of communication open; we will do the same and let you know how your child is doing. Please never hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you and we look forward to your child joining our Preschool Program!
